I am currently working in Corporate Finance for a well known Consumer Packaged Company (CPG) company located in Canada. Having already achieved my Financial Independence Retirement Early (FIRE), I am looking forward to share my path to FIRE with the web audience.
My professional credentials include Certified Management Accountant (CMA) obtained while working in the United States. After graduating with an MBA from the University of Arkansas, United States, I began working in various Finance and Accounting positions in Canada and the United States.
I began focusing on retiring early in 2009 after reading about the successes of the 'too many people to name' on the internet. Despite a very challenging start especially after the stock market crash in 2008, I finally made it in 2016 at the ripe old age of 52. Just like an accountant, I am proud that I exceeded my original target retirement date of 55 years old. Along the way, I also obtained my Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP®), which qualifies me to provide legitimate financial advice.
I thought about retiring early, but decided against so since I would be bored. I then 'unretired' and in addition to my full time day job and providing financial advice on a part-time basis, I also started teaching Accounting at a local college.
